What is
SD-WAN?

SD-WAN, or Software-Defined Wide Area Network, is a layer of technology that sits on top of WAN architecture. SD-WAN allows companies to build higher-performance WANs using lower-cost and commercially available Internet access.

In doing so, businesses can partially or completely replace more expensive WAN connection technologies, such as MPLS. This results in significant short- and long-term savings, as well as making it possible to build a high-bandwidth connection without needing an excessive IT budget.

Why should you choose Venn for your SD-WAN evolution?

We believe that there can be no good SD-WAN solution without a solid base of WAN on which to build. That’s why we make a point of working from the bottom-up, so that by the end of the project you won’t just have an effective SD-WAN — you’ll have a thoroughly optimised network.

By getting a full and comprehensive picture of your organisation’s applications and data structure, we’ll help you shape the entire architecture of your network and refine how your various sites can interact.

  Venn Telecom Others
Access type
Any combination of wired and wireless access, from any technology (VDSL, Fiber, Coax, 4G, 5G, etc) and any provider
Wired SD-WAN with one type of access, and occasionally light cellular backup, possibly from the same provider
Migration
Step-by-step smooth migration that allows you to keep your legacy architecture if you’d prefer to
“Big bang” migration: you’ll have to get rid of your entire existing network
SLA
SLA always online thanks to Hot Failover technology, which switches smoothly from one link to another without interrupting service
Problematic SLA given the single point of failure — if your single wired access point goes down, your business is in trouble
Large coverage
Flexible, simultaneous access to 500 global mobile operators
Access to only one mobile operator or occasionally none at all
Model
A managed service provider model that gives you the choice of outsourcing some or all of your technical tasks to us
Integrator-type contracts that focus on SD-WAN and tend to neglect developing and refining the underlying WAN
Custom Service
Custom evolution plans designed from the ground up to meet the needs of your specific business
Rigid, one-size-fits-all solutions, no matter what your specific business needs are
Support
Dedicated, dynamic customer service with short lead times and a setup turnaround of just 48 hours
Long lead times and slow setup turnaround due to non-dedicated customer service

What migrating from MPLS to Venn’s SD-WAN looks like

The diagram below demonstrates how migrating from MPLS to our SD-WAN works in practice.

You can outsource the entire project to us, or you can keep as many elements under the control of your own management as you like and outsource the rest. Best of all, you don’t need to wait for your current contract to expire to see the benefits — you can start enhancing your network as soon as today.

  • Example 2: Keep your own MPLS
